I am nearing obsessive status with Lucius. It's been awhile (since my last music obsession). The last album I was this excited about was Cass McCombs "Mangy Love". I'm new to Lucius, they somehow slipped by me until recently. Well, I really discovered them after falling hard for The National's Grateful Dead tribute "Day of the Dead". Lucius covers Uncle John's Band in a charmingly poppy way and after I heard it a few times, I knew I wanted to hear more of their voices.
And their 2016 release "Good Grief" has been on constant repeat for me since first hearing it earlier this year.
This live vid from A Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile makes me happy I am seeing them next week with Roger Waters. These girls are singing on that tour, as well as the homie Jonathan Wilson playing guitar. So thrilled.
Lucius is Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe.
